The Still Navigator

INTJ-ASA variant of INTJ

Course set, weather noted, handled below deck

The Still Navigator (INTJ-AS), illustrated portrait

Introduction

Steady and Self-reliant on top of the Navigator: the course is set, the sea doesn't rattle you much, and if it did, you'd deal with it below deck. The email that would have others pacing arrives, you read it once and file it under this afternoon.

Under pressure

Pressure makes you more exact. Sentences get shorter, the list shrinks to what is really due, and by the time others feel the heat you've decided what burns and what doesn't.

From outside it looks like steadiness, and people lean on it, sometimes more than they notice. From inside it's quieter work, and the bill comes later, as a need for an hour without a screen.

When something goes wrong

You work out the next step alone before you tell anyone it's needed. First comes paper or a screen: what happened, what's in your control, what order.

People close to you hear about it once it's in hand, in two calm sentences. Someone who would have held the other end of the rope learns afterward that there was a rope, and the weeks heavier than you said stay yours alone.

How the two fit

Of the four Navigators, yours is the course that holds in weather. The cost: steadiness and silence arrive together, so a plan carried alone gets no second look and its mistakes are found late, by you. It goes better when one person sees the draft. The Warm, Night and Tender Navigators get there another way.
